The 2026 Volkswagen Golf 8.5 GTI brings together iconic GTI performance, everyday practicality and modern technology in one of South Africa’s most recognisable hot hatches.

Under the bonnet is a 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine, producing an impressive 195 kW and 370 Nm of torque. Power is delivered to the front wheels through a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission, with a VAQ electronically controlled limited-slip differential helping put the power down effectively.

The Golf GTI accelerates from 0–100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.

The 8.5-generation GTI also features an updated exterior design with LED Plus headlights, illuminated Volkswagen front logo and 19-inch Queenstown alloy wheels. Inside, the GTI gets a 12.9-inch infotainment display and Digital Cockpit, combining performance-focused styling with modern connectivity and convenience.
